It’s not uncommon for a person to feel unhappy or insecure when it comes to their physical appearance. Sadly however, some people can become so obsessed with their appearance that no matter how small a flaw may be, they will worry excessively about it and may therefore develop an illness called Body Dysmorphia.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder currently affects around one in 50 people. It typically develops during teenage years, when the body is changing drastically, and an individual is more susceptive to negative thoughts. Sometimes, body dysmorphia is linked to eating disorders as there are similar characteristics to both, including body image dissatisfaction, rituals and behaviours in relation to appearance and a tendency to compare.

Many people who do suffer from BDD will more often than not try to alter their appearance with cosmetic surgery but are more often than not dissatisfied with the final results of this and then undergo further surgery as a result. Not only can this lead to the patient’s mental health being jeopardised further, but it can also lead to further scarring or trauma as many patients will take drastic measures which may include having botched or dangerous surgery. As a result, some private surgeons state that they won’t complete surgery if they believe the patient has a form of BDD.

Here at Shape Sculptors, we offer a non-invasive system that targets the reduction of excess fat in those hard to shift areas. The technology allows you to get results that are similar to those of a tummy tuck, or other surgical procedures but without the hassle, pain and risk. Our solution also creates no scarring whatsoever on the body and no internal physical changes either. The technology employed by us transforms the body’s ability to burn fat at targeted areas, using a combination of gentle exercise like walking on a treadmill which increases metabolism and blood circulation. The belt worn around the stomach during this exercise encourages the blood to flow to this area and therefore burn the fat away.

We are aware that some body dysmorphic patients become obsessed with exercise, however only a gentle exercise is needed during our sessions and our fitness expert Charlie is always on hand during sessions to ensure clients are comfortable, and to help guide them through the session.

If you’d like to see what our technology can do for you then be sure to book in for a free session and consultation with Charlie. You can make your booking online now, or get in touch with us directly here.
